About Us
Andrew Alaniz, Founder & Principal Consultant
I decided to start this organization because I’ve seen the challenges of building programs, of starting business, of navigating the world of regulatory pressure and investor relations. I’ve seen all the consultants out there that promise the moon and deliver a power point, and I’ve seen the consultants that give an awesome presentation, but when pressed haven’t ever actually built the thing they’re selling. With experience leading security at major enterprises and advising startups across industries, I want to be your no bullshit, get to the point, trusted advisor. I’m only selling services for which I’ve been there done that or a vetted partner who has.

Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of businesses do you work with?
We work with a wide range of organizations — from solo entrepreneurs and local small businesses to growing startups and mid-sized companies. Whether you're just launching a website or need executive-level cybersecurity guidance, we’ll meet you where you are.
Are your services affordable for small businesses?
Yes. We believe great strategy and security shouldn't be out of reach. That’s why we offer tiered pricing, one-time projects, and manageable monthly plans — all customized to what your business actually needs (no bloated retainers or unnecessary extras).
What makes Cipher North different from other consultants or MSPs?
Cipher North combines deep enterprise experience with a boutique approach. You get personal attention, clear communication, and solutions that actually make sense for your business — not generic packages or hard-to-interpret reports.
Do you offer fully managed IT services?
While we focus on cybersecurity and strategy, we do provide select IT support services, such as secure email setup, vendor selection, and technology planning. We also partner with trusted IT providers and can coordinate where needed.
What’s included in your Managed Security Services?
Managed Security Services typically include threat detection, email security, vulnerability management, and monthly reporting. We tailor the scope to your business, whether that’s full coverage or just filling specific gaps.
Can you help us with compliance requirements like HIPAA, PCI, or SOC 2?
Yes. We offer compliance readiness services that include assessments, policy development, evidence gathering, and security improvements — all designed to simplify the process and reduce your risk.
Do you design websites too?
We’re not graphic designers, but if it’s something that you need and it can help you focus on selling your product, then we can help or connect you with the right people to.
Can you work with our existing IT teams or other partners?
Absolutely. Many of our clients already have internal teams or MSPs. We specialize in co-managed engagements, where we bring strategic oversight, security depth, or compliance guidance to complement your current capabilities.
